[Johannesburg, 15 February 2005] - Computer Associates International, Inc announced today that it has certified more than 800 CA Technology Services consultants in ITIL service management to help customers adopt best practices into their environments.

ITIL, the industry's most widely accepted approach to IT service management, provides a cohesive set of best practices, drawn from the public and private sectors internationally. It is supported by field-proven implementation methodologies and assessment tools - as well as a comprehensive qualification scheme and accredited training organisations.

IT service management has become a critical discipline for organisations as they become increasingly dependent on technology to generate revenue, serve customers, and out-perform the competition. CA Technology Services is helping its global customers implement ITIL-compatible service management through certified services and best-in-class Unicenter Service Management solutions. CA is also working with ITIL-certified business partners to deliver highly customised, state-of-the-art service management solutions.

"The effectiveness of our support services directly impacts the end-user's satisfaction and what we deliver to them through our core IT business systems," said Felix Fischer, chief information officer at AMAG, a leading Swiss importer of Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Porsche and SkITpreneursoda automobiles and parts.

"CA Technology Services' expertise in ITIL best practices enabled us to achieve that effectiveness more rapidly and with less risk than would have been possible on our own."

Learning solutions provider ITpreneurs delivered Web-based, certified ITSM/ITIL training to CA at various locations worldwide. An additional 200 CA Technology Services consultants are expected to achieve ITIL certification by March.

"ITIL competency is essential for helping customers evolve and refine their service management strategies as required to meet the escalating challenges of an increasingly fluid and complex technology environment," said Una O' Neill, senior vice-president and general manager of CA Technology Services.

"With the addition of hundreds of ITIL-certified professionals to CA Technology Services' roster, CA continues to reinforce its position as an industry-leading resource for service management transformation."
